Why is Aluminium the best material

Aluminum metal can withstand corrosion. This is essentially because when Aluminium is exposed to the atmosphere, it instantly forms a thin invisible layer of oxide, which prevents its deeper corrosion (passivation effect).

Properties and application examples:

Low specific weight (2.7g / cm3) combined with durabilityMeans of transport
Corrosion resistanceShipbuilding, Construction
Very good thermal and electrical conductivity Electricity distribution pipes, household utensils
Impermeable to microorganisms & lightPackaging – Pharmaceutical Industry
Non-magnetic materialElectronic Equipment
Very good reflectivityresponse in combination with its low weight, rescue blankets
Ductile and malleableSuitable for a wide range of uses

What is aluminium anodising and why is it useful?

Anodising is a technical method of aluminium surface processing which makes it more resistant to erosion in harsh weather conditions e.g. in seaside areas.

Through anodising, aluminium surface is reshaped and an oxide layer is artificially formed. Since the process takes place under absolutely controlled conditions, this oxide layer is really compact and hard. Given that this layer is already oxide, when exposed to the atmosphere, it does not erode and thus the metal is protected. As a result, anodised aluminum is established as the strongest metal with great resistance to erosion.

Anodising or Electrostatic painting?

As you may observe in the shape above, the basic difference between anodising and electrostatic painting is that during anodising, whose thickness ranges from 10-25 μm (20-25μm of which are also called sea anodising), the anodising layer penetrates into the metal and practically does not change its dimensions. Electrostatic painting overlays the metal, increasing thus its thickness.

In any case, anodizing constitutes the safest processing method in order to increase metal resistance in harsh weather conditions. Our long-standing experience (more than 60 years now) has proven that anodising is a much safer choice in comparison with modern electrostatic painting method.

How can we tell if a metal object is made entirely of Aluminium?

The best way to understand this is by using a magnet. Aluminium is not magnetised and therefore it cannot be oxidised, as opposed to iron which is magnetised and therefore it can be oxidised.

Pay attention, however, to some stainless amalgams which are not magnetized but are oxidised. E.g. Amalgam 304 is not magnetised, but it is oxidised, something uknown to most people who generally consider stainless material as the best one.

What is the weight resistance of ALUREX manufactured products?

ALUREX is a company with more than 40 years experience in manufacturing aluminium products. Its clients’ special demands in combination with its staff’s excellent technological expertise rank ALUREX among the top hellenic companies in manufacturing specialised aluminium products.

To be more specific, we manufacture massive dimension storehouses, wardrobes for firewoods storage, wardrobes and bases for laundries- dryers – freezers, aluminium benches etc.

ALUREX drying racks are made of 100% aluminium and with maximum weight resistance!

How the correct sealing is done?

The sealing is NOT achieved with rubber or silicone.

Both of those materials do not have durability, making them short-lived, as their exposure to sunlight and therefore to high temperatures, causes polymerization and direct wear.

Plastic VS Aluminium

Α) Due to artificial aging that the aluminium undergoes during processing, it makes it wear-resistant through time as opposed to the plastic which with temperature fluctuations deteriorates and polymerizes. That’s why most plastic items for example drying racks, closets etc. were manufactured for interiors but the need for replacing iron due to oxidation with more cost-effective solutions has led to incorrectly use them outdoors.

B)Mechanical strength: Aluminium is a metal with exceptional mechanical properties and has introduced a revolution in many technological fields. Although much lighter than other metals, it has very high mechanical strength, which is why it is used so heavily in the highly demanding aerospace industry. Aluminium is strong with a tensile strength of 70 to 700 MPa, depending on the alloy and the manufacturing process. The extrusion of the right alloy and design is a strong as structural steel, so we can say that plastic is out of competition.

C) Aluminium is suitable for storing and preparing food (nontoxic) as opposed to the EXTREMELY TOXIC PLASTIC.

D)Recycling: Aluminium is a ‘’green’’ material that can be recycled infinitely, retaining its properties without any qualitative degradation. The energy required to recycle it is only 5% of the energy consumed in its original production.
PLASTIC is for to be IMMEDIATE ABOLISED as we all know from the barrage ads lately and only as a ‘’green’’ material cannot be described.
